Oral Surgery

There are a number of common conditions that may require oral surgery, such as tooth extraction, tooth loss, jaw-related problems, facial injury repair, lesion removal and biopsy, facial infections, and snoring (sleep apnea).

Your tooth may need to be extracted if:

  1. It is severely decayed
  2. Your gums show signs of advanced periodontal disease (gum disease)
  3. It is broken beyond repair
  4. It is poorly positioned in your mouth (such as impacted wisdom teeth)
  5. It is necessary to prepare for orthodontic treatment.

It is likely that after extraction, we will recommend that your tooth be replaced. This will avoid future complications, such as problems with chewing, problems with your jaw joint, and shifting of existing teeth.

To restore your extracted tooth, we can examine the use of dental bridges, dental implants, or dentures.
